Destiny’s child:

The great Bhagwat Gita has this beautiful way of communicating this thought process ‘karam karo fal ki iccha mat karo’. And using this as a backdrop I would want to ask every living being this question. How often in life have you come across a situation where you gave it every iota you had and ended up believing that things will end up in your favor but for some reason you do not get the success you deserve. Doesn’t it sometime feel miserable to have something you desire and deserve very badly not come to you. Think of all the numerous job opportunities, conflicts and various other things where things went sour not because of your choices but because of some unforeseen circumstance.

In life we often come across people who we want to spend our entire life with. We see them as one with us but then suddenly life throws a bazooka and things do not work out.

We end up disappointed, we blame our karma, destiny and sometimes we even end up blaming our so-called mistakes in past life.

But have you ever thought that the world is nothing but a non-stop game? Just think about this, each one of us spends a few hours in a day trying to sleep and getting our body some rest, but does the world work that way. While you were busy sleeping the world continues to play by its own rules which sometimes bypasses the ones that you tried to control in your senses.

We human beings for some reason have a false sense of belief and idealism that we are the supreme and our locus of control will decide the future of mankind. Clearly some of these thought processes have been ripped apart in the past 6 months and if we humans do not change our ways we will continue to be blasted away in future as well.

I have always had this firm belief that life is a casino and we all play a game everyday with every other human being virtually. Should we continue to play this blind game in a casino without thinking of outcomes and potential events? We have for far too long gambled away our present in search of a more prosperous future. We may have progressed economically but as a society have, we become better or worse? That is a question I will leave it to each one of you to answer.

In many ways I am also reminded of the famous Harry Potter series. As we all know Harry Potter was always referred to as the chosen one. If I may use the term, he was supposed to be Destiny’s child chosen for a purpose. When the story started, I am sure everyone believed in that but by the time the story unfolded in front of our eyes do you believe he did whatever he could without help from his friends and well-wishers who more than played their part. I again leave it to you to take the call.

Some of the greatest sports persons like Lionel Messi, Paolo Maldini, Johan Cryuff, Ferenc Puskas etc never won the one trophy they desired the most but will they not be remembered as people who shaped an entire generation. In the great Mahabharata Abhimanyu could never reap the benefits of being a part of the victorious side but would the side have won without his contribution.

For far too long we have gambled our present and blamed it on destiny. How often do we also hear people blaming their avoidable mistakes on destiny and problems with their Horoscopes etc. I have only one thing to say to everyone including myself. ‘Wake up and smell the coffee before it’s too late’.

You my friend are nothing but destiny’s child. You Might never influence the world on your own but you certainly are a very important player in the game called Life. You can only do and control what is in your locus of control. Do not waste your effort trying to control things which are un controllable. I am sure if each one of us makes an effort in this direction we are likely to have less disappointments in life. Life is not an absolute where we just measure it in terms of success or failure. It is a journey that is meant to be cherished every moment. As the saying goes’ We make the memories for tomorrow. So, start creating the good ones today’.

Having been an avid sportsman all my life I will end this by saying one thing. You play your part in the game to the best of your abilities which is nothing but life, ensure your team benefits from you being a part of it and at the end if you still lose you just shake hands and move on to the next game. If the game was meant to be your last you just try and leave an image where every person who was associated with you will have nothing but positive projections about you. Maybe you never got the success you deserved but you were meant to be destiny’s child who carved his own identity and stamped it upon the world and made it a better place.
